The Accelerator Program is designed to support organizations and industry bodies in accelerating the adoption of openBIM. Clients that undertake an accelerator project with buildingSMART International or a buildingSMART Chapter can get a diagnostic of their business processes, a plan for implementing an openBIM operating procedure, and technical support to ensure workflows fit their needs.<\/p>\n

An accelerator project is designed to add immediate value and deliver excellence in openBIM knowledge, learning, and development to solve real-world use cases.<\/p>\n

1. Discovery Workshop \ud83d\udd0d<\/strong><\/p>\n

All accelerator projects require an initial discovery workshop to better understand your business needs and openBIM requirements.<\/p>\n\t

2. Scope of Work \ud83d\udcd0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The bulk of the work is done over an agreed set of work items that is developed following the discovery workshop. Each item is designed to support your business requirements and desired outcomes.<\/p>\n\t

3. Learning and Support \ud83d\udca1<\/strong><\/p>\n

An accelerator project also provides education and training opportunities for staff, which is part of the Professional Certification program, and user guides and manuals are developed to support the ongoing work.<\/p>\n

Why is bSI running an Accelerator Program?<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t

There are two reasons. Firstly, the industry has been asking for support, and we needed to find a service to scale. Secondly, there is a real need to deliver the latest standards and services into the industry in an effective way and with a neutral body. bSI does not endorse any one software solution above another and does not implement any additional functionality that does not meet our own standards.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Is an accelerator project a paid-for service?<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t

Yes. It is a paid service as technical consultants are supporting the project.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Is each project the same?<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t

No, each project will be different depending on the client. Some projects might be similar because the openBIM principles are the same, however.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Is the discovery workshop mandatory?<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t

Yes, to better understand your needs, we need to begin with this.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Is this a service that involves a Chapter?<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t

The relevant Chapter is involved if they can support the project. We will be providing training to Chapters so they can deliver more projects in the future.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

I’m a consultant, and I am interested. What should I do?<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t

Firstly, we welcome anyone to join the program and participate. You would need to be able to support various clients in the country, and you would need to demonstrate competency for the full buildingSMART suite of standards and services.<\/p>\n

The openBIM workflow is fundamental to the Accelerator Program because it is the guideline and set of standards and services being delivered for clients as part of this program. An accelerator project could include all, or just some of the elements of the openBIM workflow to deliver tangible benefits.<\/p>\n\t
