These additional awards and special mentions are to recognize submissions of high merit that deserve recognition by the buildingSMART community. These additional awards and special mentions may cover areas of achievement such as, but not limited to, Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprise Excellence, Sustainability Excellence, Innovation Excellence, Leadership Excellence, Business Value Demonstration Excellence, or Use Case Excellence.<\/p>\n\t Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tWill successful BIM projects be considered even if there was no use of openBIM?<\/h4>\n\t\t\tNo. This awards program is to acknowledge exemplary use of openBIM; only openBIM evidence will be considered for an award.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t Does the project have to be completed to qualify for award consideration?<\/h4>\n\t\t\tNo. However the Project Phase being demonstrated for receipt of an award must have been completed in order to show results. For example, a submission to the Design Using OpenBIM award category must be a project that has completed the Design Phase.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t Can the proposed project be in pre-planning phase?<\/h4>\n\t\t\tThe submission must demonstrate results<\/u> of using openBIM, wherever in the process that may be.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tCan we submit a project completed more than 2 years ago?<\/h4>\n\t\t\t Yes. If you feel the project has merit and will be competitive with other submissions, you are welcome to submit your project for consideration. Projects can take multiple years to complete; submitters may decide to submit the same project to later project phase awards where results are available to demonstrate.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t Will projects that were submitted in previous years for the awards program be eligible?<\/h4>\n\t\t\tYes. If you feel the project has merit and will be competitive with other submissions, you are welcome to submit your project for consideration. However, projects that won an award will not be able to requalify for the same category they won an award for. Projects that won an award are still eligible to submit for a different category. Past submitters are also eligible to submit a new project to the same category they have won an award for previously.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t Will projects that have been submitted to Chapter awards programs (including winning projects) be eligible?<\/h4>\n\t\t\tYes. If you feel the project has merit and will be competitive with other submissions, you are welcome to submit your project for consideration. All other competitions outside of this program have no bearing on this competition.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t Are the projects required to show successful IFC workflows?<\/h4>\n\t\t\tYes. Where IFC has been used, we expect to see the project workflows in action. However, for submissions that did not use IFC and are demonstrating the use of other buildingSMART open standards, tools and products (or in addition to IFC), we expect to see a clear demonstration of workflows for those (also).<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t Can a submission identify real world challenges with use of IFC? <\/h4>\n\t\t\tAbsolutely! We encourage all well-documented experiences with all<\/u> buildingSMART standards, tools and products. Indeed, there is an optional field in the submission to identify this for additional points.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tDo we need to submit evidence on Use Cases?<\/h4>\n\t\t\t Although there is no requirement for the completion of a Use Case Template, any information about Use Cases is highly encouraged as part of the overall submission.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t What is acceptable evidence that demonstrates openBIM use?<\/h4>\n\t\t\tThere are several ways that evidence for the use of openBIM can be documented. The submission platform allows for written fields as well as attachments. Attachments to the submission are for any visual information to support the written information, such as, but not limited to:<\/p>\n \n- Images<\/li>\n
- Presentations slides with screen shots and detailed descriptions<\/li>\n
- Flow charts or diagrams showing openBIM workflows<\/li>\n
- Short (<2-minute) videos demonstrating how Open Standards (eg. IFC) was used on the project<\/li>\n
- Project URL<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t
What types of evidence are NOT acceptable?<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\n- Company Marketing material<\/li>\n
- Drone flyover video of the project<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t
