What do you like the most about your work\u00a0<\/b>in your chapter<\/b>?\u00a0\u00a0I feel motivated to increase the presence of buildingSMART by becoming a member or officer of a standardization organization or government committee related to the construction industry.\u00a0<\/p>\nThe greatest success achieved within\u00a0<\/b>your\u00a0<\/b>chapter<\/b>?\u00a0I persuaded the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and its affiliates to recognize that BIM would be a solution for productivity improvement.
\nIt is very difficult for Japanese BIM software to get bSI IFC certification.\u00a0Therefore, bSJ implemented IFC certification to increase the degree of implementation of IFC translator in BIM software made in Japan.\u00a0\n
What does openBIM mean to you<\/b>?\u00a0I think\u00a0openBIM is a most important\u00a0concept\u00a0for our construction\u00a0industry.\u00a0<\/p>\n
What is the biggest challenge the community is facing today<\/b>?\u00a0One of big problem is\u00a0a lack of interest in BIM among public and private clients.\u00a0By our many years of efforts,\u00a0central\u00a0government established ‘Council for BIM Promotion’ 2019 June to activate Public and Private collaboration for BIM implementation.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
What challenges do you encounter in\u00a0<\/b>your country<\/b>?\u00a0Improving productivity in the construction industry\u00a0and\u00a0digitalization of the business process.\u00a0<\/p>\n
What are the main opportunities for\u00a0<\/b>your market<\/b>?\u00a0One of big opportunity is that\u00a0MLIT(Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism) started ICT Initiative named “i-Construction”.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Digitalization is more and more present today; what do you do in\u00a0<\/b>your\u00a0<\/b>chapter to meet the challenges it poses<\/b>:\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Expansion of digital\u00a0contents\u00a0archives.\u00a0And\u00a0expansion of educational programs through the web.\u00a0<\/p>\n
What vision, as\u00a0<\/b>a chapter leader<\/b>, would you give to the whole community<\/b>?\u00a0Continue to communicate that BIM will be the most effective way to increase the productivity of the construction industry and increase the satisfaction of clients.\u00a0<\/p>\n
What is your overall vision of the future<\/b>?\u00a0BIM is one of Key Components of Society5.0’s Digitalization. We must develop a human-centric society based on the integrated Cyberspace and Physical space.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Resum\u00e9:<\/strong>\u00a0I am the president of a consulting company that I established after retiring from a construction company.\u00a0In 1990’s,\u00a0I developed a three-dimensional modelling system for building design like the current BIM modeler using IBM’s host computer.\u00a0It was a good system, but not highly effective. In the construction industry, many companies are involved in the work, and the companies involved are often different for each project, so I realized that even if only one company develops and introduces a good system, it will not be effective. I came to the conviction that it was important to establish an inexpensive modelling system that runs on a PC. Especially,\u00a0most important is data\u00a0standard.
